Can't Leave Out Those White Sox! ~ September 27, 2016
November 27, 2016
Given the goal to somehow see a game in every ballpark, we could not leave Chicago without seeing the White Sox play over at Comisky Park .... well, not exactly Comisky Park, since it was torn down and replaced by the modern U.S. Cellular Field. Somehow, we lose something when the old is replaced by the new. But, we did take CTA over to the South Side of Chicago (home of Barack and Michelle Obama) to watch the Sox play against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Sox got killed, so we ended up leaving in the 7th inning.
As we rode home on the train, Jeff noticed an older woman wearing a Hillary button, and asked, "How did she do?" It was the night of the first of the debates. The woman had been downtown watching with other members of the Chicago Democratic Committee, and she was clearly proud of Hillary's performance. We chatted the whole 20 minutes on the train, and when we got back to the apartment, we listened to the entire debate on our cell phones.
This was our last day in Chicago. Vacation had come to an end, and we said farewell to our wonderful apartment and ventured to the airport for our flight back to Boston, an evening with Bethany and Jeremy, and then a drive homeward.
My first retirement adventure comes to an end. Stay tuned for more adventures to come. Next up is our trip to the Azores - specifically the Island of Terceira - in November!
