Victoria, British Columbia ~ September 17, 2016

From the Victoria website (http://www.hellobc.com/victoria.aspx)
After we left Glacier Bay, it was an all night and much of the day sail to Victoria, capital of British Columbia. We did not get into port until about 6 p.m., and were scheduled to depart at midnight, so we elected not to go to the famed Butchart Gardens simply because by the time we got there it would be too dark to see much.
I took this shot of the city from our balcony. Victoria was established in 1843 as a fort for the British-owned Hudson Bay Company. When we visited Vancouver about 10 years or so ago, we promised ourselves that we would return and spend a day in Victoria. I was looking forward to doing a walk about the historic neighborhood, but my aching foot and knee kept me aboard ship. Jeff left the ship for a walk-about, but quickly returned due to a looming thundercloud! So ... we've decided that a return trip to Vancouver and Victoria is in order. Perhaps we will combine it with another trip on the Coast Starlight - something we have also talked about doing!
The dramatic skies over Victoria captivated me as I stood on our balcony. After so many days of heavy clouds, it was a joy to see some blue skies. The moodiness of Mother Nature was evident throughout this portion of our trip, though.
And so ended our last port of call before we returned to Seattle.
