The Lull Between the "Storms" ~ April 6, 2019
We are not nearly as excited about tomorrow night's game as we would have been, but we still plan to go, and I plan to root for Baylor as I don't want to see Notre Dame repeat as National Champions after snatching the semi-final game from us two years in a row (call me vindictive if you'd like). I don't know what Jeff's thoughts on this are.
Today had been a relaxing day spent recovering from all the excitement and activity (and the late night) of yesterday. Jeff has been playing piano off and on all day, and both of us did some reading. I suggested going to a movie mid afternoon. The house recommendations include a theater not too far from here called CineBistro, which is a movie theater complete with stadium seating, at which you can order food and adult beverages. So, we made our way over to the "Hyde Park" neighborhood of Tampa to see the film, The Best of Enemies. As you can see from the photo of our ticket stub, it was a pricey theater. Jeff says, "They overcharge you for the movie, but the make up for it by overcharging for food and drink." Two beverages (a bourbon on the rocks and a glass of wine) were more than the cost of the two tickets!

But ... it's vacation! And, it was a new experience. Most of all, it was a really interesting film! The movie is based on the true story of Ann Atwater, an activist in Durham, NC during the early 70s and C. P. Ellis, the leader of the Durham KKK. The two are unlikely co-chairs of a "charrette" (a meeting in which all stakeholders in a project attempt to resolve conflicts and map solutions) organized to address the racial inequities and school desegregation in Durham. During the process the two gain greater insights into the lives of one another. I won't say more than that, but will add that it really was a great film and well worth seeing. We did not order food, but did enjoy drinks while we watched the film.
After the film we came back to the house, and I made dinner. I had been marinating the chicken mirabella for the last 36 hours, so it was ready to cook. I put on some brown rice and prepared a salad as the chicken cooked.
Jeff pronounced it "good." I tried to avoid giving him the figs and olives in his portion, which he appreciated. He says he like the flavor, but doesn't want to eat them. Anyway, we enjoyed our dinner, watched some television and called it a day.
