The Long Drive to Savannah ~ April 8, 2019
We were up and out of the Seminole Heights house before my target of 9:00 a.m. Jeff loaded the car while I stripped the bed and ticked off the short list of "to-dos" on the check-out instructions. Walked through the place several times to make sure we had left nothing behind, and took the garbage out to the curb. We filled the gas tank and set off for the next part of our adventure: Savannah, Georgia. I think I came to Savannah many, many years ago for a conference, but I know I never left the hotel. Back in those days I was not an adventurous traveller. I was also alone, so I didn't have anyone to go out and about with. So, I am looking forward to seeing the sights in Savannah.
It's about 335 miles from Tampa to Savannah, so I was figuring on at least a 7 hour drive. We left at 8:45 a.m., made a quick stop for lunch at Wendy's, and pressed on, arriving at 3:50 p.m. Traffic was heavy on Route 4 between Tampa and Orlando, so I think we did well. I had bought Michelle Obama's book, Becoming, on Audible, so we plugged that in and listened pretty much the whole way. It's really very good! We haven't finished it yet. I guess we'll do that on our way to Charleston later this week.

Just two blocks away is a Kroger Grocery store, so after unloading the car, we walked to the store to pick up groceries for the next few days. Jeff played some piano while I cooked - braised lamb with zinfandel and dried fruit.
We ended the evening with a Netflix movie before heading to bed.
