April 7, 2018 ~ Regensburg, Germany

It was another beautiful day - warm and sunny without a cloud in the sky!  Unfortunately, I have come down with a wicked head cold and cough and am just not feeling in tip top shape.  But like yesterday, I was determined to carry on.

Today took us to Regensburg in Bavaria.  The town is located at the northernmost point of the Danube and at the mouths of the tributaries Naab and Regen.

This picture of the twin spires of St. Peter's Cathedral captures the beauty and majesty of the city.

Our guide for the morning walk was Cornelia, and I must say that she was not my favorite of the guides, but she was knowledgeable.

Porta Praetoria
The first traces of settlement date back to 5000 BC.  A Roman camp was established in 179 and given an early mention by Emperor Marcus Aurelius.  In 2006 archeologists uncovered a number of Celtic graves dated at about 400 BC.

I loved Jeff's pictures of the stained glass and the organ in St. Peter's Cathedral.  Just beautiful!

And, once again, we captured a bride - this time with pictures of pre-wedding celebrations!
We did see a spectacular sunset while having dinner this evening.  The picture below is not mine -- I wasn't able to get to the deck in time to photograph the one we saw, but this one is pretty close.
